Owings Mills, Maryland - Eric M. Scharf and his SiTEL teammates are in the beginning stages of developing a Burn Patient Management training simulation prototype!

This serious game will allow both medical and non-medical staff to experience the high-pressure stakes of life in a hospital burn unit during a mass casualty incident (MCI)having to carefully diagnose critical burn patients within exacting time cycleswith life hanging in the balance.

Users will perform the tasks that emergency responders and other health care personnel would carry out during a MCI. Users will have to manage the needs of victims while projecting ahead to prepare for the scope and nature of a MCI. Users will interact with the victims, the environment, and other frontline responders just as they would in an actual situation.

Eric spent the early part of this ongoing development performing research tasks involving taking photos and video footage of live burn patient surgeries and wound dressings. Far more fascinating than stomach churning. Stay tuned for more!
